Maria Udofia

Maria is a songwriter/performer born and raised in South London.

Music is and has always been a big part of her life. She was brought up on highlife and Afrobeats, 90s RnB, Jazz, Gospel and Early 2000’s Pop music – all of which have influenced and helped her become the writer she is today. Some of her musical influences include Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill mainly because of their ability to story tell through their lyrics.

One of Maria’s favourite albums is ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ by Lauryn Hill as it is in her opinion “a timeless and magnificent body of work”

As a child, Maria was extremely shy and introverted but soon learnt how to express herself through her writing. She especially enjoyed creative writing and would often write short stories and poems. As she grew older, poems turned into song lyrics and from then on she decided to perfect her craft as a songwriter.

She studied Music Performance at college then went on to do a Songwriting degree at BIMM London. Nowadays she writes and co writes with other artists whilst also writing and producing on her own music. She recently put out a song titled ‘Ivy’ which she wrote and sang over.

In the near future, Maria sees herself getting signed to a publishing company, writing for bigger artists and putting out more of her own projects.
